"Look Phara," sighed Eller. Whispering, he said, "The stuff you're wanting I can't dump
here, now. It's got layers, and layers of protec. If you'll come over to my place
after the cops run their stuff I'll be glad to help you out."
"I wouldn't do this for anyone else," continued Eller into the silence as if it was his
idea to share the ware.
"Oh, Ellerbits, seeing as how your law-and-order buddies are here I guess we'll
continue our together a little later," breathed Phara with a sexy, wet voiceware whisper
just as the copware jumped on her barnet. It ran all over her patrons' VR ware that was
running in the barnet's domains. Phara's flaming aura vanished along with Eller's
rockware. All through the barnet's crazed quilt, pixel flash died as they all were put max
lev down. All the way down to their registered appearances.standard background.
    Silence reined in Phara
's forest. Cacophony crashed.
Stripped down to min.lev, the drab presence of Eller's registered persona appeared in
the barnet. The pixel-poor sight of his tornado-gray, kev-armored jacket hanging open
over bare fibersuit was quickly noted. His dark intensity even competed with the
command performance put on by the two towering, red and blue flashing hulks of the
cops' personas. Even followed as they were by the unusually dark sight of a TelCo Rep.
A bulbous figure encased in thick black robes etched with golden maps. The maps of a
Net Wizard, field observer class.
    Beware Bullyware.

To make this possible, all companies involved in data transfers through FCC controlled
media were consolidated as the FedTelCo.
Digitally, access to the entire US net became a local phone call away. With the
dividend dole the phone call was free, along with a ration of data transfer time. The
dividend dole was paid by the FedTelCo's public stock plan. The welfare dividend was
paid from the regular operating revenues collected by the TelCo from taxing the data
flow. A welfare recipient was issued a certain number of shares. If things were good for
the TelCo they were better for you. Votes to increase taxes on the Mega-Corps were very
popular. Later, they were especially fond of targeting the Spacer Corps.
